Lee Chee Yang graduated from the University of the West of England with a Bachelor of Laws (1^st Class Honours) and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2015.

He commenced his career as a legal associate in the oldest law firm of local origin in Malaysia, where he focuses on both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters which includes providing advice on intellectual property agreements and prosecution of trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs.

He then joined Messrs Desmond Chan & Jeff Law as a senior legal associate in June 2019 and was made a partner in June 2021. He now focuses on civil and commercial litigation matters. Some of the matters in which he was involved in include:-

• Representing a local client in an arbitration proceeding for wrongful termination and breach of the construction contract where the contract sum is RM42,526,818.30;

• Representing an international client in action for mandatory injunction against the internet fraudster from transferring and/or dealing with and also recovering the sum of EUR700,000.00 in the internet fraudster’s bank account;

• Representing a local client in action for breach of contract and specific performance in relation to the sale and purchase of property where the purchase price is RM6,182,458.80;

• Representing a local restaurant chain owner which commenced use of its trademark since the year of 1938 in action for trademark infringement and passing-off; and

• Representing a public listed local publisher to defend an action for copyright infringement in relation to educational materials.
