Origin & Strategy
Borne out of idealism, ambition and youthful exuberance, the Firm has matured into a thriving and vibrant legal practice with significant capacity, clientele as well as connection to regional network since its inception back in 2004. The shared vision on excellence and ambition for success have culminated into a strategic merger with its long-time affiliate law firm, Teh, Kiu & Partners, leading to the present iteration of the Firm, and the adoption of the name, Desmond Chan & Jeff Law.
Our strategy for progress rests on two main pillars – client experience and organizational resilience. We are focused on delivering experiences that exceed expectations and are assiduously refining the breadth and depth of our expertise and resilience.
What do we stand for?
The eminent jurist Roscoe Pound wrote that there are three ideas involved in a profession: organisation, learning and a spirit of public service. At the most fundamental foundation, our firm’s raison d’être is to help people. Whether it is to facilitate a collaboration, resolve a dispute, navigate through complex procedures, or to know where one stands in relation to his rights and obligations. We take pride and joy in simply being able to help.
The firm’s clientele therefore extends beyond industry players, corporate entities and high nett worth individuals to include social enterprises, civil society organisations, non-profits, and underprivileged individuals. In suitable cases, our services are offered on a pro bono or pay-it-forward basis.
